Her Grey Nation

 

Her grey nation is based on black female empowerment. I have named the project “Her grey Nation” which comes from the concept of being able to fit into a culture that’s not necessarily yours. The combination of a black heritage with white culture signified by the use of the colour grey. 

 

I choose to base the topic around black female women because It connected to me as a person, as It is part of my physical identity. I wanted to represent the young female women in a different perspective that don’t confine to the mass media stereotypes of black female women such as, angry, sexual objects and seen as the “ugly one”. I wanted to be able to show a true representation of British black females, for people to see me as who I am and to show that I am more than my colour and my gender but part of me.
